Pair of Italian polychromed wood blackamoors late 19th century in the form of man and woman, the man with beard and turban wearing loosely draped clothing, holding a candle base in one raised hand; the woman wearing a headscarf, belted jacket and also supporting candle base; each resting on pillows with tassels and raised on a shaped octagon pedestal base with carved ribbon and floral design and ending on hairy paw feet; all decorated in vibrant and iridescent colours and gilded surfaces.
