Patek Philippe gold pocket watch retailed by Hayden & Whilden, Charleston circa 1860, 18K yellow gold hunting case, white enamel dial with Roman numeral indicators within concentric ringed case, no. 15807, case marked LO, 18K ; movement serial number matches case outer cover and inner cover. Inner cover engraved: "Manufactured by Patek Philippe & Co. Geneva for Hayden & Whilden, Charleston, So. Ca. No.15807". Case cover engraved with initials "PGTB" possibly for General Pierre Gustave Toutant Beauregard.

Other Notes: Pierre Gustave Toutant Beauregard (1818-1893) was a native Louisianian Civil War General who first won acclaim as commander of the South Carolina troops in the Charleston Harbor during the Battle at Fort Sumter. He went on to command troops during the battles of Bull Run, Shiloh and the Siege of Corinth. In 1863 he returned to defend Charleston, South Carolina from numerous assaults and then moved North to Virginia in 1864 to protect Petersburg and the Confederate Capital of Richmond. Later he was offered the Command of the Department of the West which included the states of Georgia West to the Mississippi River. He tried to alert Lee and Davis about the severity of Sherman's campaign but lacked the resources to stop his advancement. Following the war he pursued industrial exploits in Louisiana becoming the President of the Great Northern Railroad and New Orleans and Carrollton Street Railway. He was appointed supervisor of the Louisiana Lottery and served as adjutant general for the Louisiana State Militia from 1879 to 1888.
