Provenance:
- Waldo Peirce gave this painting to Homer Saint-Gaudens, son of well known American sculptor Augustus Saint-Gaudens and director of the department of Fine Art at the Carnegie Institute, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Homer later wrote of this painting in his 1941 book entitled THE AMERICAN ARTIST AND HIS TIMES, p. 275 "Because we both were fond of the Florida Keys, he [Waldo Peirce] sent me a water color demonstrating his technique in shooting sharks with Ernest Hemingway off the Tortugas." This amusing watercolor of the great fishermen was passed down the Saint-Gaudens family to the present family member. Dimensions:
