Other Notes: The Reverand Thomas John Young (1803-1852) married Rebecca Ann Gourdin, daughter of Samuel Gourdin (1766-1821) in 1828. He was the minister of St. Michael's Church in Charleston from 1847-1852. His son Henry Edward Young (1831-1918) was a Charleston lawyer and a prominent member of the South Carolina bar. During the Civil War he served as a Major in the Confederate Army and also as Judge Advocate General of the Army of Northern Virginia on the staff of General Robert E. Lee.
