CLOSING IN
oil on canvas, framed, signed: lower right
H36" W70"

Provenance: Columbia, South Carolina private collection.

Literature: Illustrated in Wechsler, Chuck. "Lasting Impressions." published in SPORTING CLASSICS, September/October 1997, p84.

Other Notes: Randall McKissick grew up in Columbia, South Carolina. He obtained a Hallmark scholarship to attend the Ringling School of Art in Sarasota, Florida. He has worked as a commercial illustrator for advertising firms representing companies including Coca Cola, McDonalds, AT&T, American Express, Wrangler, and Universal Pictures.

In speaking about this painting for a SPORTING CLASSICS magazine article published in September/October 1997, McKissick said, "I consider myself an emotional person, and I hope that comes out in a spontaneous way. Several years ago I did a painting of a cheetah chasing a springbok, and I was as much interested in the panic on the gazelle's face as anything else. It was an emotional thing that I wanted the viewer to pick up on." As a painter, McKissick has a loose impressionistic style which lends a unique quality to his wildlife paintings when compared to the more literal styles of most other wildlife artists.
