Rare American Queen Anne painted maple rush-seat, side chair circa 1730-40 a shaped crest rail; over a baluster backsplat and rush seat; supported on turned legs with carved Spanish feet; joined by turned stretchers. (Old finish; some loss to rush seat, loose at some joints, normal wear). *Note: This chair belonged to Stanly Fletcher Morse of Columbia and descended from his grandfather Dr. Luther F.B. Morse of Boston whose home stood on the St. Charles River. Family is reportedly related to Samuel F. B. Morse.
