Rare and early Charleston land indenture Charleston, South Carolina, dated 1777 transfer of ownership of 30 Lamboll (4 Legare Street) from George Kincaid to William Hopton (Good restored condition) H29 1/2" W23" *Property History: December 4, 1777: George Kincaid and wife to William Hopton, for 10,000 GBP. 186ft on Legare to north boundary (Miles Brewton's wall), east boundary was another lot [28 Lamboll] already owned by Kincaid. This lot was part of property owned by Thomas Drayton upon his death, and sold and conveyed by Burroughs, Master in Chancery by court order. December 21, 1785: William Hopton willed it to spinster daughter Sarah Hopton. March 29, 1788: Sarah Hopton sold to William Skirving for 1,500 GPB. November 17, 1800: William Skirving sold to Jas. Shoolbred for 2,175 GPB. October 3, 1821: Jas. Shoolbred created a trust as part of a marriage settlement for daughter Ann G. Shoolbred and John E. Burrell. October 27, 1842: John E. Burrell declared bankruptcy, and transfered his ownership to son for 57.50 GPB. November 30, 1847: Jas. Shoolbred dies, his son Dr. John G. Shoolbred became trustee, but he went into Equity and asked to be relieved so Jas s. Gibbes appointed trustee for daughter Amelia Gibbes. May 25, 1863: Amelia Gibbes sold to George W. Williams for 9,700 GPB. April 2, 1879: George Williams sold to Jas. M Wilkinson for 2,500 GPB. December 20, 1881: Jas Wilkinson sold to Sarah E. Wilkinson for 3,000 GPB. January 25, 1883: Sarah Wilkinson to Willis Wilkinson for 3,000 GPB. December 1, 1904: Sara Wilkinson's will probated.
