Description:

Rare blackware swan-form teapot, possibly Sowter & Co Mexborough, circa 1800-5, finely molded feather body with swan finial cover, bowed neck handle and tail forming spout; underside impressed: 22.
H7 1/2" L10 1/2"

Provenance: Property of a Southern gentleman's private collection, Charleston, South Carolina.

These two examples show the teapot with a flower finial on the cover rather than a baby swan which is a more rare form.
