Other Notes: Worked by Ann Custer, daughter of James Custer, South Carolina, who married Charleston cabinetmaker Frederick Naser. Mr. Custer is referred to directly in a letter from Henry Laurens, dated 13 December 1776 with reference to the Izard plantation, as well as other regular correspondence.

    Condition:
  • Original silk embroidery was at some time stitched to liner backing, pinned, and stretched over wood panel. 19th century backing paper from older frame included with piece.
