Other Notes: Hermann Panzerbieter Groceries located at the King & Columbus Street is listed in the Charleston, S.C. City Directory as early as 1859. His home is listed at the same address.
This piece is especially rare as the decoration is fully incised. There is a similar merchant's piece made by Dave in the Charleston Museum. However, the decoration on it was done solely in slip.
