Rare Edgefield Southern stoneware whimsy churn, Chandler site South Carolina, circa 1850, alkaline glaze with tooled rim above sculpted handles with iron slip decoration surrounding upper body above cylindrical form, upper body centered by incised zero.

Provenance: Collection of Michael Watt, Greenville, South Carolina.

    Condition:
  • Scattered kiln burst surrounding body as a result of clay kneading, finger prints at base, otherwise good overall condition wear consistent with age.
