Description:

Rare French Empire tole night clock by Griebel Paris, early 19th century, star-painted celestial globe housing lever escapement movement and translucent glass dial with candleholder attached to rear door mounted on columnar pedestal and square base; the dial marked: "Parbrevet Griebel, a Paris." A candle flame from rear of clock would illuminate dial for night use.

Provenance: Estate of the late Francis D. "Skeeter" McNairy, Savannah, Georgia.

    Condition:
  • Paint loss to original surface, dial crack at 12 o'clock, paint loss to numerals on dial, movement appears to be complete however not currently operational.
