Description: Rare painted folk art shield depicting the state seal of Tennessee circa 1901, poplar, green ground with yellow border, state seal in center with the word "Tennesee" misspelled below

Other Notes: This seal was reportedly created for the 1901 Pan-American Exposition in Buffalo, New York. The Exposition sat on 350 acres filled with fountains, streets and elaborate Beaux Arts buildings all lit by electricity generated by Niagara Falls. Unfortunately, it is largely remembered as the site of Preisdent McKinley's assassination.
