Description:

Rare Southern coin silver sugar tongs, Mood & Ewan Charleston, South Carolina, circa 1825
shaped ends with applied shell ornament, and engraved Wilson 1825; marked twice Mood & Ewan in serrated punch.
L6 1/4", and 1.0oz troy

Other Notes: This union of Mood & Ewan was but for a very brief period in 1825. The only other example of silver with such marks is said to be in the Charleston Museum, Charleston, South Carolina.

    Condition:
  • Middle portion bent. One arm bent or repaired at area just above shell. Each arm is identically struck with maker's mark.
