Description:

Rare Southern stoneware storage jar, Phoenix Factory Edgefield, South Carolina, circa 1840, alkaline glaze with tooled rim above high wide sculpted handles centered by stamp, "PHOENIX FACTORY ED: SC" above brushed iron and slip-trailed kaolin decoration surrounding upper body and tapered lower body.

    Condition:
  • Very good overall condition with no restoration or hairlines. 1 1/2" chip to rim 1/2" chip to left handle 1/2" chip to right handle.
