Reuben Gambrell South Carolina (1917-2006) PORTRAIT OF BLACK MAN oil on canvas, unframed estate stamp on verso H20" W16" *Artist biography: Reuben Gambrell received a BA in art from the University of South Carolina, a MFA from the University of Georgia and a PhD in art education from Teachers College, Columbia University. Having taught at colleges and universities in the South and East, Reuben has devoted much of his life to teaching art. He has been equally devoted to painting and drawing. Gambrell's work has been exhibited at the Metropolitan Museum, Corcoran Museum, Telfair Museum, Georgia State Art Museum, South Carolina State Museum, and is in various American private collections.
