Provenance: Estate of C. Theodore and Barbara B. Hicks, Augusta, Georgia.

Other Notes: Chapman Brothers (working 1874-1916) worked at the 251 King's Road address from 1874 to 1911 as master gilders, picture frame makers and restorers.

The original is in the collection of the Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York, gifted from Cornelius Vanderbilt in 1887.

    Condition:
  • Appears to have been restreched and probably dates from the late 19th/early 20th century; UV light examination reveals touch-up inpainting throughout figures at faces and hands; as well as a spot to the tower in the background and a couple of spots to two horses; also inpainting along top edge from rubbing against frame.
