(One handle repaired) H3 1/2" W10" *Note: The original Flora Danica service was made by commission for Crown Prince Frederic (later Frederic VI) and presented to Catherine II Empress of Russia. It took twelve years to complete. Johann Christoph Bayer is perhaps the most famous decorator, but it was botanist and director of the factory Theodor Holmskjold whose academic background inspired the botanical designs featured, and which created a very contemporary synthesis of artistic and scientific interests.
