Description:

Scottish Hepplewhite style inlaid mahogany mantel clock by Lackie Montrose, late 19th century, round top inlaid case housing unusual eight-day time and strike, tandem wind movement with brass and black slate dial signed "Lackie - Montrose" on molded base; front of case with full fan paterae and presentation plaque which reads "Presented to Mr. Walter Duff, Fishery Officer, as a token of esteem by the Fish-Curing Trade in its various branches of the Montrose District on his promotion to Wick, May 1896".

Other Notes: A most unusual feature of this clock is the tandem winding of both time and strike springs thru the main arbor which holds the hands. The back of the movement is stamped "V V 3276, patent 1883".
