Description:

Set of four New York Classical carved mahogany side chairs circa 1830, anthemion carved crest over scrolled backrest leading to leather slip seat over molded seatrail on cabriole legs with anthemion carved knees terminating in scroll feet.

Provenance: Estate of the late Francis D. "Skeeter" McNairy, Savannah, Georgia.
Estate of the late Elizabeth Navarro of "Little Hobcaw" in Kingstree, South Carolina.

Other Notes: "Little Hobcaw" in Kingstree was built by Bernard Baruch for Elizabeth Navarro. She was his nurse/companion for almost 30 years and family lore states that she and Mr. Baruch used these chairs for playing cards. They were sold as part of her estate on Sept. 18, 1993 by Charlton Hall.
