Other Notes: A doctor and author, Sir James Rice Oxley later became the mayor of Kensington for three terms from 1919-1922. After serving as mayor, he was instrumental in securing the transfer of the home of the important Victorian artist Frederic, Lord Leighton to the Borough of Kensington for use as a museum. He was appointed as the first curator of Leighton House in 1927.
