Description:

Southern Chippendale walnut desk and bookcase, probably North Carolina late 18th century, molded cornice above glaze panel doors on lower section with fallboard opening to reveal prospect door flanked by small drawers and pigeonholes over long drawer flanked by candle drawers above two short drawers over two long drawers; all resting on ogee bracket feet.

Provenance: Charlotte, North Carolina private collection.

    Condition:
  • Top and bottom sections of same age and color however may be by association as the top overhangs the bottom by approx. 1/2", refinished, backboards reattached, scattered minor repairs, bookcase hinges and hardware replaced, lid hinges reset, feet appear to be original, overall very good condition with other minor imperfections consistent with age.
