Description:

Southern Chippendale walnut desk and bookcase probably Lexington, South Carolina, early 19th century, top section with molded cornice and dentil-molded frieze over astragal-paneled doors on lower section with fallboard opening to reveal fitted interior with prospect door flanked by pigeonholes and small drawers above case fitted with two short drawers over three graduated drawers on bracket feet.

    Condition:
  • Yellow pine secondary, refinished, sanding marks on top section, replaced hardware, side shrinkage cracks, feet replaced, bookcase hinges replaced, other imperfections consistent with age.
