Southern coin silver creamer, Benjamin Barton Alexandria, VA (wk. 1801-16) gadroon rim on urn-form body with handle, marked: B. Barton. (Good condition) H4 1/2" W6", and 5.4oz *Note: Born in Alexandria, Benjamin Barton Jr. (1803-1887) worked under his father, then his brother before setting up his own shop in 1834. A daguerreotype of Barton (in top hat) and another of his shop on King Street were included in Catherine B. Hollan's exhibition In the Neatest, Most Fashionable Manner: Three Centuries of Alexandria Silver (nos. 98, 105).
