Southern coin silver cup, Gregg, Hayden & Co Charleston, SC (circa 1850) beaded rim band on tapering body with beaded base design, fitted with scrolling handle, engraved with initials JHG; underside marked: Gregg, Hayden & Co (Small dents to base) H3 1/2", and 4.1oz *Note: Family history has it that this cup was carried in a Confederate soldier's backpack. When he was injured, a family in Chester, SC took him in and cared for him. The day he was leaving, he gave the family his cup as a gift.
