Description:

Southern coin silver presentation ewer, John Ewan Charleston, SC (wk. 1823-52)
rocaille adorned rim on vasiform and floral chased body centering cartouche and raised on shaped feet, marked on underside: J. Ewan inscribed: "Presented by the Sergeants of the G.F. [German Fusiliers of Charleston] to the Privates for the best Shot 3rd May 1852"
H6 1/2", and 6.2oz

Provenance : Descended in a family of Southern gentlemen; prominent King Street, Charleston, South Carolina antique and jewelry merchant. He was also a member of the German Friendly Society.
