Description:

Southern Empire carved mahogany armoire, possibly New Orleans circa 1830-40
massive scrolling crest centered with rocaille keystone, with canted corners, over conforming frieze and case with mirror-panel doors having corresponding moldings, on lower part with two drawers, scalloped skirt with bracket feet.

Provenance: Property of a South Carolina museum, sold to benefit the acquisitions fund.

    Condition:
  • Old finish, some ripple molding missing, other small molding pieces missing, mirror glass appears original. Other imperfections consistent with age.
