This house was located on the Winnsboro-Newberry Highway not far from Little River. It was a large two-and-one-half story building with gable roof. Before the Revolutionary War this was a part of the vast Winn Estate. The mansion was built by the Palmers in the early 1800's. It then passed to James Lemmon before the Civil War. He then gave it to his daughter Elizabeth when she and Doctor W. K. Turner were married. This excerpt was taken from 'A Fairfield Sketchbook, by Julian Stevenson Bolick'.
