Southern sterling teapot, Hayden & Whilden (Charleston, South Carolina, working 1855-63) watermelon finial on scalloped hinged cover and bulbous form with floral chased motifs and cartouche engraved with initials WHA and crest; flanked by vine-entwined spout and twig-form handle; underside marked: Hayden & Whilden, G&W (Grosjean & Woodward, New York City, wk. 1840-53), English Sterling, 925-1000, Charleston, SC.
H8 1/2", and 35oz Troy
