Description:

Southern stoneware Edgefield District "Dave" storage jar circa 1845
alkaline glazed with well-formed rim above high lug handles centered by stamp "L. Miles" at one side and at opposite side having inverted horseshoe mark , probably thrown at Stony Bluff site.

Provenance: Property from a Virginia private collection.

    Condition:
  • Very good original condition. Inherent firing flaws and glaze imperfections, and glaze coloration varied glaze brown-green to deep beige.
