Herbert Filer was generally regarded as the foremost authority on stock market options. He was head of Filer, Schmidt & Co., which was at the time the largest stock options firm in the country; and he held that esteemed position in both the Put and Call Brokers and Dealers Association, as well as the Securities and Exchange Commission. This clock descended in the Filer family to the present owner.
