Description:

Two English ash hoopback Windsor chairs circa 1900
bow, spindle and pierced splat back flanking saddle seat, on turned legs unified by stretchers.

Provenance: Asheville, North Carolina private collection.

    Condition:
  • One chair is lighter than the other, with a cherry backsplat, darkening to the front edge of the seat and slightly loose joints. The other chair is in good condition, with minor wear consistent with age. Chairs are the same size; the back height is 43 1/2", seat height 15 3/4", width 26 1/2" and depth 26".
