Description:

Two Regency style whatnots English, circa 1850, rosewood with four rectangular tiers on turned supports, with lower frieze drawer, ending with turned feet on casters, H53 1/2" W17" D13 1/4"; American, circa 1984, mahogany with similar construction, H54 1/8" W17" D13 3/4".

Provenance: Collection from Sea Island, Georgia.

Other Notes: Purchased from Otto Zenke, esteemed as one of the top interior designers in the world. He had design studios in Greensboro, New York and London. A scholarship fund was established in his memory for interior design students in the Carolinas.

Reproduction whatnot labeled in drawer "Crafted by Clarence N. Cone."

    Condition:
  • Rosewood whatnot has shrinkage cracks across each tier, with overall wear consistent with age. Reproduction is in good condition.
