U.S. Springfield .58 caliber centerfire Model 1866 U.S. breechloading rifle NVSN. Full walnut stock with steel buttplate, three barrel bands with two sling swivels and original iron ramrod; lockplate marked: "U.S.Springfield" with spread eagle, buttstock stamped: "13610" on the left side below "1030".

Other Notes: 2nd. Allin Conversion, a.k.a. Second Model Allin "Trapdoor". Designed by Erskine S. Allin. Total of 25,000 altered at the Springfield Armory using Model 1863 percussion muskets. Very rare Civil War conversion of percussion musket to breechloading rifle.
