U.S. Winchester-Lee 6mm straight pull rifle circa 1895-1902
serial number 11360 [indicates made before 1898]; walnut stock, blue finish, marked "U.S.N.M." anchor "NO 65, J.N.J." on receiver rims, "MANUFACTURED BY THE WINCESTER REPEATING ARMS CO-NEW HAVEN, CONN. U.S.A. PAT. OCT. 10, 93, JAN. 30, 94, OCT. 8, 95" on left receiver.

Provenance: Property deaccessioned from the Centennial Museum at the University of Texas at El Paso to benefit the Museum Collections Fund. (Accession #54.21.4). Paper label with State of Texas Inventory #724-117288 glued to left butt.

    Condition:
  • Good bore. Cleaning rod missing from butt compartment, floor plate missing from magazine, rear sling swivel missing. Finish on the barrel is good with 95% bluing; the receiver is in similar condition excepting minor surface pitting on left hand side where manufacturer's markings are stamped. There is an inspector's mark on the left side of the trigger guard in the shape of a star with either the letter "S" or the universal "5" - next to this mark is the letter "T".
