iron stirrup guard and pommel, wood grip; marked "MOLE" on spine of blade, "SC" on disk finial of guard.

Other Notes: "SC" indicates that the hilt came from a sword owned by the State of Connecticut. The blade is of British manufacture; "MOLE" is Robert Mole, who began work in 1847 and was active until 1855 when his sons joined him.

    Condition:
  • Hilt is dark with age and old rusting, wire wrap missing but holes are present where it once attached to the grip. Blade is dark with some moderate rusting and fine pitting.
