U.S. Civil War Starr percussion carbine circa 1862-65
serial number 27922; .54 caliber, falling breech, walnut stock, marked "F, STARR ARMS CO., YONKERS N.Y." on right side of lock, "LAB" on left side of breech at barrel, "US" on buttplate tang.

Provenance: Property deaccessioned from the Centennial Museum at the University of Texas at El Paso to benefit the Museum Collections Fund. (Accession #50.18.3). Brass plaque with State of Texas Inventory #724-16616 screwed to the buttplate.

Other Notes: No evidence of patent date on breech, no inspector's initials on buttstock.

    Condition:
  • Bore badly pitted, heavy pitting on breech block, all ferrous surfaces have dark rusting and fine pitting; no finish remains.
