Walter Durfee carved mahogany tall case clock, Providence, RI late 19th century
for Bailey, Banks and Biddle Co., Philadelphia, PA; carved broken-arch bonnet with tombstone-shaped glazed door and side columns, housing 3-train weight-driven movement striking on 8 tubes behind engraved brass dial over waist with full columns, glazed door and sidelights on bombe base with oak leaf carving, resting on mask-head feet.

    Condition:
  • Expertly refinished; all beveled glass intact, minor finish abrasions to extremities of feet, stabilized closed crack across curved surface of lower case. Very good overall condition; all tubes are stamped twice with "Walter Durfee" as well as on the top edge of rear movement plate. Clock is presently running; however, we do not guarantee clocks to run once they leave our gallery.
