Description:

Annamese blue-and-white ceramic bowl, Hoi An Cargo circa 1450
raised round rim decorated with floral band and central spray.
H2 1/2" Dia.9 1/2"

Provenance : From the 1999 recovered shipwrecked vessel discovered in 1997. Salvaged from the South China Sea, near the port of Hoi An in the typhoon area known as the "Dragon Sea". The Hai Doung kilns at Red River Delta were the center for early potteries renown for its high quality export ceramics.

    Condition:
  • Stress fractures, hairline, and staining evident on one three-inch section of rim. Surface contains some marine residue. All glazed decoration worn from exposure.
