Chinese Export Skinner armorial shallow platter circa 1765
rectangular rim with chamfered corners with gilt and underglaze-blue rim over shallow oval bowl centering arms of Matthew SKINNER (Chief Justice of Chester).

Provenance: The J. Louis Binder Collection of Chinese Export Porcelain (a portion of which sold in an eponymous auction at Christie's of London in 2003).

Other Notes: This piece was probably made as a later replacement for the original c.1730 service. This platter will be included in CHINESE ARMORIAL PORCELAIN vol. III by Howard, which is currently in the works.

  • Overall in good condition. The arms with wear and rubbing; the gilding with heavy wear.
