Description:

Continental engraved brass-mounted flintlock blunderbuss 18th century, possibly German, walnut stock with steel barrel, steel ramrod, lock marked with crown over S.E. and illegible name, buttplate with illegible stamp.

Provenance: West Virginia, private collection.

    Condition:
  • Underside missing ornamentation near trigger; flintlock appears to have been tampered with; rod and barrel with oxidized finish; barrel with wear to gilding; stock with scratches; firing action mechanism functioning but we have not attempted to fire gun.
