Description:

French Empire ormolu allegorical figural group lyre mantel clock circa 1820, lyre form with two winged figures, flanking the engine-turned dial, supporting a staff with bust of bearded man, on scroll pedestal above bas-relief plinth, rectangular base and block feet; the number 448 stamped on movement, pendulum and case part.

Provenance: Estate of the late Francis D. "Skeeter" McNairy, Savannah, Georgia.
Purchased in Paris in 1955.

    Condition:
  • Clock is in excellent overall condition with nearly all of its original gilding intact, losses to painted numerals on dial, pendulum suspension was originally silk thread but has been converted to spring steel, clock is in running condition in the gallery, however we do not guarantee timepieces to be operational after they leave the gallery.
