Other Notes: Working as an American illustrator in the first half of the 20th century, Soulen was a contemporary of Norman Rockwell. His work was published in magazines such as the SATURDAY EVENING POST and the LADIES HOME JOURNAL. He received the Peabody Award for his magazine cover designs. Famous for his skill at capturing the essence of religious scenes, he was selected by the LADIES HOME JOURNAL to travel to the Holy Land with writer Harry Emerson Fosdick. He was also hired by NATIONAL GEOGRAPHIC to illustrate scenes from the Old and New Testament.
