Other Notes: Samuel Lancaster Gerry was a member of the Boston Art Club. He exhibited at the Boston Athenaeum, Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts, American Art-Union, among other institutuions. He had a studio in Boston and made many trips to New Hampshire's Lake District and its White Mountains. He is widely regarded as the leader of the White Mountain School during the 1840s. He appears to have assimilated art vision and techniques from A.V. Durand and Thomas Cole. He made contacts on trips to France, England, Switzerland and Italy.
