Jane Beverly Evans South Carolina (1866-1950) PORTRAIT OF JANE BEVERLY EVANS, nee Daniel (1795-1861) oil on canvas, framed inscribed on verso H28" W24" *Note: Verso inscribed "Jane Beverly Evans (nee Daniel)-(1795-1861), Wife of Thomas Evans, Esq., Copy by Jane Beverly Evans, after Gardiner." *Artist biography: Jane B. Evans, descendant who was born in Florence, SC. The portraits were painted from the 1832 original by Gardiner which hang in the Florence Museum. Jane Evans studied art in Philadelphia when she was a young woman and she lived in Rome for at least a year. She lived in Florence from the first decade of the 20th century and founded the Florence Museum in the 1930's. She painted portraits for friends in Florence.
