Other Notes: Ora Coltman was born in Shelby, Ohio and spent most of his life in Cleveland. He was an influential member of the regionalist "Cleveland School" of the 1920s. He was an artist who did not limit himself to watercolor and oils but worked in a variety of media including printing and sculpture. He worked for Joseph Carabelli as a designer of cemetery monuments.

He was a member of the Cleveland Art Club and also helped to found the Watercolor Society of Cleveland. He studied with Carroll Beckwith at the Art Students League in New York, under Jean Paul Laurens at the Academie Julian in Paris and Margadey Schule in Munich.

His art has been exhibited at the Art Institute of Chicago, the Society of Independent Artists, Cleveland Museum of Art, the Butler Institute of American Art, the Cleveland Foundation of Art and Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Art.

He has done murals for the Cleveland Public Library and sculpted several public monuments in Cleveland. He also helped design buildings in and around the area.

Coltman also worked in Provincetown, Massachusetts and is also considered a member of the Provincetown school of painters. a member of the Cleveland Society of Artists and Cleveland Printmakers.
