Rare eight-gallon Edgefield stoneware storage jar, Broken Stem Flower South Carolina, circa 1845
rich alkaline glaze with tooled rim above well placed high tab handles centered at each side by iron slip decorated broken stem flower on highly ovoid body.
H17 1/2" D15 1/4"

Provenance: Greenville, South Carolina private collection.

    Condition:
  • 2 5/8" chip to handle 1 5/8" chip to opposite handle having three small rim chips measuring 1 1/2",1 1/8" ,1 1/4" along with very tight 8" hairline at upper body stretching down to mid body. Overall good condition with wear consistent with age.
