U.S. Springfield Model 1873 trapdoor cadet rifle circa 1877-1875, serial number 1100; marked "U.S. MODEL 1878, DIE MARKER ERROR, CALIBER 45-70 GOVT" on breechblock, walnut stock marked "A.H." "H.P.", steel buttplate, stamped "U.S."

Other Notes: This breech block marking is extremely rare, as less than 1,050 model 1877 Springfield Cadet Rifles were produced circa 1877-1878. Most of the production was going to West Point.

    Condition:
  • very good to excellent: initials AH scratched in stock, HR marked forward the trigger, small slight crack on both sides of buttplate, slight crack in stock rear of lockplate, missing rear sight and ramrod.
